\"Image<\/span><\/span>Apparu avec Windows Vista SP1 (et Windows CE 6.0), le syst\u00e8me de fichier exFAT est maintenant disponible sous Windows XP. Cette nouvelle version de la FAT, aussi connue sous le nom de FAT64, succ\u00e8de \u00e0 la FAT12, la FAT16 et la FAT32.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Des volumes de 64 Zo<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

exFAT est pr\u00e9vu pour pallier aux probl\u00e8mes de la FAT32 : des volumes de 2 To et des fichiers de 4 Go (moins 1 octet) en 2009, c’est un peu l\u00e9ger. Avec exFAT, la taille maximale d’une partition est de 64 Zo (soit 64 milliards de To), tout comme la taille maximale des fichiers (Microsoft conseille de ne pas d\u00e9passer 512 To). Notons aussi, dans les modifications, la possibilit\u00e9 de g\u00e9rer bien plus de fichiers dans le m\u00eame r\u00e9pertoire, la possibilit\u00e9 de cr\u00e9er des clusters de 32 Mo, une gestion des dates en UTC (alors qu’en FAT32, la date est bas\u00e9e sur celle de la machine) et la possibilit\u00e9 (pas encore utilis\u00e9e) de g\u00e9rer les droits (comme en NTFS et sur les syst\u00e8mes de fichiers r\u00e9cents). Annonc\u00e9 comme plus rapide que la FAT32 et mieux adapt\u00e9 aux p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques \u00e0 base de m\u00e9moire flash (avec notamment la possibilit\u00e9 d’aligner le syst\u00e8me de fichier sur la structure interne), exFAT permet aussi de gagner un peu de capacit\u00e9 : sur notre cl\u00e9 USB de test (8 Go), l’espace libre augmente de 14 Mo en passant de FAT32 \u00e0 exFAT.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Reste le probl\u00e8me de la compatibilit\u00e9 : exFAT ne fonctionne nativement qu’avec Windows 7 et Windows Vista SP1, alors qu’une mise \u00e0 jour est n\u00e9cessaire pour Windows XP<\/a> (SP2).
