Possesseurs de PC portables Samsung, attention ! Installer Ubuntu (voire une autre distribution Linux) sur ces machines peut les rendre totalement inop\u00e9rantes, les “briquer”, comme disent les anglophones. La faute – a priori – d’un pilote pr\u00e9sent dans le noyau, pilote fourni par Samsung pour prendre en charge les fonctions particuli\u00e8res des PC concern\u00e9s (touches de fonctions, etc.). En attendant une correction d\u00e9finitive par le fabricant il existe des moyens d’\u00e9viter le bug.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Le briquage a \u00e9t\u00e9 confirm\u00e9 sur des Samsung 300E5C (S\u00e9rie 3), 530U3C (S\u00e9rie 5), NP700Z5C, NP700Z7C (S\u00e9rie 7) et NP900X4C (S\u00e9rie 9). Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9 lors de l’installation d’Ubuntu 12.04 ou 12.10 ou m\u00eame simplement du lancement du Live CD – si et seulement si l’UEFI a \u00e9t\u00e9 activ\u00e9<\/strong>. Si l’UEFI est restreint en seule \u00e9mulation du BIOS (mode appel\u00e9 CSM par Samsung), alors aucun souci n’est \u00e0 d\u00e9plorer. Malheureusement, en restant dans ce mode, l’installation d’un double boot est plut\u00f4t complexe. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Un correctif provisoire a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 : il d\u00e9sactive le pilote Samsung suspect au d\u00e9marrage si l’UEFI est activ\u00e9. Ce patch n’a cependant pas \u00e9t\u00e9 totalement test\u00e9, personne n’ayant os\u00e9 tenter l’aventure au risque de bloquer son PC. Ce patch vient tout juste d’\u00eatre approuv\u00e9 par Linus Torvalds et sera donc dor\u00e9navant int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans les versions du noyau. Il est d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent dans les images de d\u00e9veloppement g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es chaque jour par l’\u00e9quipe d’Ubuntu. Avec une de ces builds, le probl\u00e8me ne devrait pas se poser.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Samsung a \u00e9t\u00e9 averti et devrait \u00e0 terme proposer un pilote corrig\u00e9 ou un UEFI adapt\u00e9. En attendant, la prudence est de mise. Si par malheur vous aviez \u00e9t\u00e9 victime de ce bug, le SAV Samsung pourra ressusciter votre machine, via un remplacement de la carte m\u00e8re.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
