\"Image<\/span><\/span>Comme pr\u00e9vu, NVIDIA vient d\u2019officialiser la GeForce GT 640<\/strong>, sa nouvelle carte graphique d\u2019entr\u00e9e de gamme propos\u00e9e sous la barre des 100 dollars. Et comme pr\u00e9vu, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une carte graphique embarquant un chipset diff\u00e9rent du GK104 que l\u2019on trouve dans les GeForce GTX 670, 680 et 690. Avec ses 118 mm\u00b2, le GK107 <\/strong>des GeForce GT 640 ne repr\u00e9sente que 40% de la surface d\u2019un GK104, ce qui ne l\u2019emp\u00eache pas d\u2019afficher 1,3 milliards de transistors au compteur, l\u2019ensemble \u00e9tant grav\u00e9 en 28 nm. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

GK107 = un quart de GK104<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

Pour faire simple, le GK107 int\u00e8gre le quart des ressources offertes par un chipset GK104. On retrouve donc deux SMX comprenant un total de 384 CUDA Cores<\/strong>, 32 unit\u00e9s de texture et 16 ROPs. Cadenc\u00e9 \u00e0 900 MHz, le GK107 ne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie pas de la technologie GPU Boost et ne peut donc pas ajuster de mani\u00e8re dynamique sa fr\u00e9quence de fonctionnement. La GeForce GT 640 embarque par ailleurs 1 Go ou 2 Go de m\u00e9moire DDR3 fonctionnant \u00e0 891 MHz sur un bus 128-bit, soit une bande passante de 28,5 Go\/s.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 consommation, NVIDIA indique que sa GeForce GT 640 affiche un TDP de 65W<\/strong>, soit moins que les 75W que peut d\u00e9livrer un port PCI-Express 16x. Cette carte graphique ne poss\u00e8de donc pas de connecteur d\u2019alimentation PCI-Express suppl\u00e9mentaire. En veille, la consommation descend \u00e0 seulement 15 watts. On notera au passage la pr\u00e9sence de trois sorties sur cette carte au design relativement compact\u00a0: une sortie VGA, une sortie DVI et une sortie HDMI. Bonne nouvelle, toutes ces sorties peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re simultan\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Les performances et la consommation<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n

Notre laboratoire aux Etats-Unis s\u2019est bien entendu pench\u00e9 sur les performances de la \u00ab\u00a0b\u00eate\u00a0\u00bb (Nvidia GeForce GT 640 Review<\/a>), l\u2019opposant aux Radeon affich\u00e9es \u00e0 un tarif \u00e9quivalent (soit les Radeon HD 6670, 6750 et 7750). Pour compl\u00e9ter le tableau, la GeForce GT 640 a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 oppos\u00e9e aux \u00ab\u00a0anciennes\u00a0\u00bb GeForce GT 440 GDDR5 et GTS 450. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Sous <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Battlefield 3, la GeForce GT 640 est tr\u00e8s proche d\u2019une Radeon HD 6670, avec un minimum de 28 IPS en 1680 x 1050 et de 25 IPS en 1920 x 1080. Sous The Elder Scrolls Y\u00a0: Skyrim, la nouvelle carte de NVIDIA se d\u00e9tache en revanche de sa concurrente de chez AMD, avec un minimum de 30 IPS en 1920 x 1080 et FXAA activ\u00e9. Une tendance que l\u2019on retrouve sous DiRT 3. Avec Metro 2033 et Crysis 2, c\u2019est en revanche l\u2019inverse\u00a0: la Radeon HD 6670 GDDR5 passe devant la GT 640. La GT 640 est par ailleurs capable de toujours rester au dessus des 44 IPS sous Diablo III en 1920 x 1080.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

En fonctionnement, la GeForce GT 640 apparait comme plus \u00e9conome en \u00e9nergie que ses adversaires du jour. En veille toutefois, la Radeon HD 7750 fait sensiblement mieux. Malgr\u00e9 son design de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, la GT 640 ne souffre par ailleurs pas d\u2019une temp\u00e9rature de fonctionnement \u00e9lev\u00e9e. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Pour r\u00e9sumer, la GeForce GT 640 tient t\u00eate \u00e0 la Radeon HD 6670 GDDR5 d\u2019AMD.
