Lors d\u2019un \u00e9v\u00e9nement pr\u00e9sentant Hawk, le premier supercalculateur bas\u00e9 sur des processeurs EPYC ROME, HPE<\/a> et HLRS nous d\u00e9voilent les fr\u00e9quences de base du futur CPU AMD. On y apprend que le produit phare de la gamme EPYC ROME, avec ses 64 c\u0153urs et 128 Threads, devrait \u00eatre cadenc\u00e9 \u00e0 2,35 GHz<\/strong> de base. Si on le compare \u00e0 l\u2019actuel EPYC Naples 7601 \u00e0 2,2 GHz de base, AMD aurait donc r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 non seulement doubler le nombre de c\u0153urs, mais aussi augmenter l\u00e9g\u00e8rement les fr\u00e9quences de 150 MHz. Le r\u00e9sultat devrait se traduire par un g\u00e9n\u00e9reux gain d\u2019instructions par cycle, qui d\u2019apr\u00e8s WCCFTECH<\/a> serait augment\u00e9 d\u2019environ 28 % par rapport aux CPU Zen+ (beaucoup plus que ce qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment rapport\u00e9).<\/p>\n

En plus d\u2019apporter une augmentation des fr\u00e9quences et du nombre de c\u0153urs, les processeurs EPYC ROME sont aussi les premiers CPU \u00e0 g\u00e9rer le PCIe 4.0. Au lancement, il faudra cependant se contenter des cartes m\u00e8res SP3 actuelles (compatibles avec EPYC ROME) et du PCIe 3.0. Les rumeurs indiquent que les cartes m\u00e8res embarquant la nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration du PCIe ne devraient pas d\u00e9barquer avant le troisi\u00e8me trimestre 2019. <\/p>\n

En attendant, HardOCP a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 mettre la main sur la premi\u00e8re photo d\u2019une de ces cartes m\u00e8res. Sign\u00e9e Gigabyte, la carte ne propose qu\u2019un seul socket CPU et tire avantage des 128 lignes PCIe 4.0 du CPU en les allouant sur 4 slots PCIe 4.0 16x et un slot PCIe 4.0 8x.
