Dans le viseur de l\u2019administration am\u00e9ricaine depuis plusieurs mois, Huawei va devoir se passer du fondeur ta\u00efwanais TSMC \u00e0 partir du 14 septembre. Cela fait suite \u00e0 des mesures visant \u00e0 couper les approvisionnements<\/a> de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 prises par les USA en mars dernier, lesquelles avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 contraint Huawei \u00e0 migrer une partie de sa production (14 nm) vers le fondeur chinois SMIC<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019est en tout cas l\u2019information partag\u00e9e par Asian Nikkei<\/a>, qui ajoute que TSMC ne re\u00e7oit plus de nouvelles commandes de la part de Huawei depuis le 15 mai dernier. En pratique, les mesures am\u00e9ricaines imposent des restrictions aux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9trang\u00e8res dont la production n\u00e9cessite l\u2019utilisation de licences am\u00e9ricaines. En ce qui concerne la gravure, tous les process inf\u00e9rieurs au 16 nm requi\u00e8rent l\u2019emploi de brevets \u00e9tats-uniens. Seule une licence d\u00e9livr\u00e9e express\u00e9ment par les services comp\u00e9tents permet de d\u00e9roger \u00e0 cette r\u00e8gle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TSMC envisage finalement de construire une usine pour le 5 nm aux \u00c9tats-Unis<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rien d\u2019irr\u00e9m\u00e9diable pour TSMC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bien que Huawei soit un important client du fondeur, TSMC n\u2019a pas pour l\u2019instant pas exprim\u00e9 publiquement sa volont\u00e9 de demander une telle licence. Quoi qu’il en soit, Mark Liu, le PDG de TSMC, pr\u00e9cise que sa soci\u00e9t\u00e9 travaille en \u00e9troite collaboration avec ses autres clients afin de remplir les cha\u00eenes de production laiss\u00e9es vacantes. On ne se fait donc pas trop de souci pour le fondeur ta\u00efwanais, qui compte parmi ses clients des entreprises comme AMD, Apple ou encore NVIDIA. D\u2019ailleurs, on a r\u00e9cemment appris que la seconde lui confiera sa production de puces Apple Silicon, tandis que la derni\u00e8re \u00e9laborerait de myst\u00e9rieux produits en 5 nm grav\u00e9s par TSMC<\/a>. Le nom d\u2019Intel a m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9voqu\u00e9. La firme pourrait, et ce serait une premi\u00e8re, externaliser la fabrication de ses GPU Xe en 5 nm<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En revanche, pour Huawei et sa filiale HiSilicon, l\u2019avenir s\u2019annonce compliqu\u00e9. Certes, SMIC rattrape son retard rapidement. Mais actuellement, le savoir-faire du fondeur chinois reste tr\u00e8s \u00e9loign\u00e9 de celui de TSMC. Ainsi, Huawei risque d’\u00eatre purement et simplement dans l’incapacit\u00e9 de faire produire ses SoC Kirin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
