Avec sa surface de 46 225 mm2 (21,5 x 21,5 cm environ), son 1,2 billion de transistors et ses 400 000 c\u0153urs, le Wafer Scale Engine (WSE) de Cerebras<\/a> est d\u00e9j\u00e0 le plus grand processeur au monde. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9pare toutefois un WSE-2. Le passage au 7 nm de TSMC permettra, malgr\u00e9 une surface de die identique, d\u2019embarquer 850 000 c\u0153urs et 2,6 billions de transistors. Cerebras a fourni quelques informations et illustrations suppl\u00e9mentaires au sujet de ce WSE-2 lors de la Linley Spring Processor Conference<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme indiqu\u00e9 sur les diapositives, ce WSE-2, qui occupe une tranche wafer enti\u00e8re, embarque 40 Go de SRAM et offre une bande passante de 20 Po\/s contre 9 Po\/s pour le WSE de premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration. Malgr\u00e9 un nombre de c\u0153urs plus que doubl\u00e9, la consommation reste inchang\u00e9e avec 15 kW pour la puce et 20 kW pour l\u2019ensemble du syst\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pour rentrer un peu plus en d\u00e9tail dans l\u2019architecture d\u00e9ploy\u00e9e par Cerebras, les c\u0153urs se r\u00e9partissent sous forme de tuiles, elles-m\u00eames diss\u00e9min\u00e9es au sein d\u2019une multitude de petits dies. Chaque tuile poss\u00e8de son propre routeur, sa m\u00e9moire SRAM, son chemin de donn\u00e9es FMAC et son module de contr\u00f4le tensoriel. Tous les c\u0153urs sont interconnect\u00e9s via une matrice 2D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour des raisons \u00e9videntes de confidentialit\u00e9, Cerebras ne donne pas d\u2019informations les concernant. On peut estimer qu\u2019il s\u2019agit essentiellement d\u2019organisations pr\u00e9sentes dans les domaines militaire, \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, m\u00e9dical et de la recherche fondamentale. L\u2019Argonne National Laboratory poss\u00e8de par exemple un syst\u00e8me Cerebras CS-1<\/a>, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme “The World\u2019s Fastest Artificial Intelligence Computer”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
