Les d\u00e9boires de Samsung avec son n\u0153ud de gravure 5 nm EUV n\u2019appartiendraient pas uniquement au pass\u00e9 : selon des informations par Business Korea, un m\u00e9dia normalement bien renseign\u00e9, le rendement du fondeur cor\u00e9en pour cette lithographie serait actuellement inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 50 %. Ainsi, plus d\u2019une puce sur deux fabriqu\u00e9es ne serait pas fonctionnelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Korea pr\u00e9cise que d\u2019ordinaire, pour qu\u2019une production en s\u00e9rie soit viable \u00e9conomiquement, le rendement doit avoisiner les 95 %. Comme rappel\u00e9 ci-dessus, ce n\u2019est pas la premi\u00e8re fois que l’entreprise est soup\u00e7onn\u00e9e de rencontrer des difficult\u00e9s pour son n\u0153ud de gravure 5 nm EUV<\/a> : il y a \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s un an, une telle rumeur courait d\u00e9j\u00e0 ; en novembre, la firme cor\u00e9enne s\u2019\u00e9tait toutefois montr\u00e9e rassurante. L\u2019article du Business Korea est assez sommaire et se garde bien de donner les raisons d\u2019un si faible rendement. Il pr\u00e9cise n\u00e9anmoins tenir cette information de plusieurs sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pas d\u2019inqui\u00e9tude, les GPU des RTX 3000 sont grav\u00e9s en 8 nm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Au sein de la FAB V1 de Samsung, la production de masse a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en f\u00e9vrier 2020 ; c\u2019est la seule usine du fondeur qui poss\u00e8de des lignes consacr\u00e9es \u00e0 la lithographie EUV. Elle se situe \u00e0 Hwaseong en Cor\u00e9e du Sud. Des travaux d\u2019extension se poursuivent jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin d\u2019ann\u00e9e ; ils pourraient \u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019origine des difficult\u00e9s \u00e9voqu\u00e9es par Business Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les lignes 5 nm de Samsung servent essentiellement \u00e0 la production des SoC Exynos de la firme. Pas d\u2019inqui\u00e9tude \u00e0 avoir concernant les cartes graphiques Ampere, puisqu\u2019elles-ci sont grav\u00e9es en 8 nm. Les premiers GPU de NVIDIA grav\u00e9s en 5 nm \u00e9taient suppos\u00e9s \u00eatre Hooper. Or, ces derniers seraient report\u00e9s en 2023 voire 2024 selon de pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes informations<\/a> ; entre Ampere et Hooper, NVIDIA intercalerait une g\u00e9n\u00e9ration Ada Lovelace<\/a>, possiblement en 5 nm. Quoi qu’il en soit, d\u2019ici l\u00e0, Samsung aura certainement rectifi\u00e9 ces suppos\u00e9es difficult\u00e9s. En outre, il n\u2019est pas exclu que NVIDIA confie la production de ses futurs GPU \u00e0 TSMC, qui pr\u00e9voit de son c\u00f4t\u00e9 d\u2019initier la production en 4 nm avant 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
