Dans le cadre de l\u2019Accelerated Data Center Premiere<\/em>, outre les processeurs EPYC Milan-X \u00e9quip\u00e9s de 3D V-Cache<\/a>, AMD a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ses acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs AMD Instinct Series MI200. Il y a bien deux mod\u00e8les, les MI250 et MI250x ; ils succ\u00e8dent \u00e0 l’Instinct M100<\/a> lanc\u00e9 l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. Ces acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs s\u2019appuient sur la nouvelle architecture AMD CDNA 2 ; ce sont \u00e9galement les premiers GPU multi-die \u00e0 prendre en charge 128 Go de m\u00e9moire HBM2e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Selon AMD, l\u2019Instinct MI250X “offre des performances jusqu’\u00e0 4,9 fois sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs concurrents pour les calculs HPC \u00e0 double pr\u00e9cision (FP64) et d\u00e9passe les 380 t\u00e9raflops de puissance de calcul en demi-pr\u00e9cision th\u00e9orique (FP16) pour les charges de travail d’IA. Cela permet des approches disruptives pour notamment acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer davantage la recherche ax\u00e9e sur les donn\u00e9es”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principales capacit\u00e9s et fonctionnalit\u00e9s des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs de la s\u00e9rie AMD Instinct MI200<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Afin de promouvoir sa s\u00e9rie AMD Instinct MI200, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 expose les trois caract\u00e9ristiques clefs ci-dessous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La premi\u00e8re est l\u2019architecture CDNA 2, dont les “Matrix Cores de seconde g\u00e9n\u00e9ration acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent les op\u00e9rations matricielles FP64 et FP32 pour des performances th\u00e9oriques maximales en FP64 jusqu’\u00e0 4 fois sup\u00e9rieures aux GPU AMD de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La seconde est une “technologie de packaging de pointe – La premi\u00e8re conception de GPU multi-die du secteur avec la technologie 2.5D Elevated Fanout Bridge (EFB) offre 1,8 fois plus de c\u0153urs et une bande passante m\u00e9moire 2,7 fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que les GPU AMD de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Il en r\u00e9sulte la meilleure bande passante m\u00e9moire th\u00e9orique agr\u00e9g\u00e9e de l’industrie \u00e0 3,2 t\u00e9raoctets par seconde en pointe”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfin, le dernier argument est la troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de la technologie AMD Infinity Fabric, laquelle autorise “jusqu’\u00e0 8 liens Infinity Fabric pour connecter les AMD Instinct MI200 aux processeurs EPYC de troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et \u00e0 d’autres processeurs graphiques pr\u00e9sent dans le n\u0153ud”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supercalculateur Frontier<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Les processeurs AMD EPYC de troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs AMD Instinct MI250X \u00e9quiperont notamment le supercalculateur Frontier, con\u00e7u par AMD en collaboration avec le d\u00e9partement am\u00e9ricain de l’\u00e9nergie, le laboratoire national d’Oak Ridge et HPE. Ce dernier “proposera plus de 1,5 exaflops de puissance de calcul maximale”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plateforme logicielle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pour ses acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs, AMD soutient la plateforme logicielle open-source AMD ROCm. Celle-ci “est fond\u00e9e sur une portabilit\u00e9 ouverte ce qui autorise la prise en charge des environnements de plusieurs fournisseurs d’acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs et leurs architectures. Avec ROCm 5.0, AMD \u00e9tend la plateforme en propulsant les meilleures applications HPC et IA avec les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs de la s\u00e9rie AMD Instinct MI200 [\u2026]”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Par ailleurs, “gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l’AMD Infinity Hub, les chercheurs, les data scientists et les utilisateurs finaux peuvent facilement trouver, t\u00e9l\u00e9charger et installer des applications HPC conteneuris\u00e9es et des frameworks ML optimis\u00e9s et pris en charge sur les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs AMD Instinct et ROCm. Le hub propose actuellement une gamme de conteneurs prenant en charge les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs Radeon Instinct MI50, AMD Instinct MI100 ou AMD Instinct MI200, ainsi que plusieurs applications telles que Chroma, CP2k, LAMMPS, NAMD, OpenMM et les frameworks ML populaires TensorFlow et PyTorch. De nouveaux conteneurs sont continuellement ajout\u00e9s au hub”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disponibilit\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Les AMD Instinct MI250X et AMD Instinct MI250 sont disponibles au format open-hardware OAM (OCP Accelerator Module). L’AMD Instinct MI210 sera disponible sous forme de carte PCIe dans les serveurs OEM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
