Le fondeur TSMC a profit\u00e9 de la pr\u00e9sentation trimestrielle de ses r\u00e9sultats pour confirmer aupr\u00e8s de ses investisseurs que les d\u00e9veloppements de ses proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de gravure en 3 nm et 2 nm \u00e9taient en bonne voie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 N3<\/strong> \u2013 pour une gravure en 3 nm<\/strong> \u2013 devrait ainsi entrer en production d\u00e8s le second semestre 2022<\/strong>. Une version N3E<\/strong> am\u00e9lior\u00e9e de ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de gravure, optimisant les performances et le rendement, devrait m\u00eame \u00eatre disponible d\u00e8s l\u2019ann\u00e9e prochaine. Concernant la gravure en 2 nm, TSMC reste un peu plus \u00e9vasif, indiquant tout de m\u00eame que la production de puces via ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de gravure est attendue pour 2025, avec une phase de pr\u00e9-production d\u00e8s 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des transistors GAA pour remplacer ceux en FinFET<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Avec son proc\u00e9d\u00e9 N2, le fondeur devrait pour la premi\u00e8re fois faire appel \u00e0 des transistors GAA<\/strong> (\u00ab Gate All-Around<\/em> \u00bb) en lieu et place des transistors FinFET utilis\u00e9s jusque l\u00e0. La technologie n\u2019est pas nouvelle, mais sa mise en \u0153uvre complexe avait repouss\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent son utilisation industrielle en faveur du FinFET. En pratique, il s\u2019agit \u00ab simplement \u00bb de passer d\u2019une structure verticale pour les canaux \u00e0 une structure horizontale en forme de feuilles afin d\u2019\u00e9viter les effets capacitifs. Notons tout de m\u00eame que Samsung a d\u2019ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0 commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 utiliser ce type de transistors GAA et qu\u2019Intel devrait basculer vers cette technologie d\u2019ici 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le segment HPC (calculs hautes performances) repr\u00e9sente le march\u00e9 le plus porteur pour TSMC, avec 41% des revenus totaux de l\u2019entreprise au dernier trimestre, devant la branche smartphones qui repr\u00e9sente 40% des revenus. Suivent les segments IoT et Automobiles avec respectivement 8% et 5% du chiffre d\u2019affaires de TSMC. Au total, l\u2019entreprise a annonc\u00e9 que ses revenus trimestriels avaient atteint 17,6 milliards de dollars (+11,6%), avec des pr\u00e9visions pour le trimestre \u00e0 venir de l\u2019ordre de 17,6 \u00e0 18,2 milliards de dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
