Certaines rumeurs laissent penser que les processeurs Raptor Lake<\/a> – les Core de treizi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration qu’Intel doit prochainement lancer – pourraient b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d’un MTP (Maximum Thermal Power<\/em>) plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que les 241W<\/strong> de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration actuelle. Il faudrait toutefois un alignement parfait des plan\u00e8tes pour en profiter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, Intel pourrait avoir am\u00e9lior\u00e9 sa technologie Enhanced Thermal Velocity Boost<\/em> pour permettre aux Core i9 Raptor Lake de consommer jusqu’\u00e0 350 watts<\/strong>. Intel a d\u00e9j\u00e0 tent\u00e9 une approche similaire avec le Core i9-12900KS en permettant aux constructeurs de cartes m\u00e8res d’outrepasser la limite MTP de 241 watts, mais le gain de performances reste limit\u00e9 avec l’architecture Alder Lake<\/a>. Ici, le gain atteindrait 15%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une carte m\u00e8re Z790 indispensable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pour conserver une compatibilit\u00e9 avec les plateformes Intel Alder Lake actuelles<\/a>, en particulier les cartes m\u00e8res \u00e9quip\u00e9es d’un chipset Z690<\/a>, les CPU Raptor Lake reprendraient les PBP (Processor Base Power, soit 125 \u00e0 150 watts selon les mod\u00e8les) et MTP des Core Gen12 actuels. Pour profiter de ce “MTP-\u00e9tendu”, il faudra en revanche obligatoirement utiliser une carte m\u00e8re Z790<\/strong>, et seuls quelques mod\u00e8les (tr\u00e8s) haut de gamme devraient \u00eatre s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s par Intel<\/strong> pour offrir cette fonctionnalit\u00e9. De plus, il faudra que l’alimentation mais aussi le syst\u00e8me de refroidissement utilis\u00e9s soient suffisamment robustes et efficaces pour encaisser cette consommation gargantuesque, m\u00eame si ce n’est que pendant une p\u00e9riode de quelques secondes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On \u00e9mettra enfin quelques r\u00e9serves sur la pertinence d’augmenter de mani\u00e8re presque ind\u00e9cente la consommation maximale d’un processeur pour am\u00e9liorer ses performances plut\u00f4t que de tout miser sur son efficacit\u00e9, alors que la situation g\u00e9opolitique actuelle nous pousse plut\u00f4t vers une certaine sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
