L’\u00e9diteur UL Solutions est bien connu des gamers et des geeks pour ses deux principaux benchmarks, qu’il faut absolument utiliser si on d\u00e9sire \u00e9valuer les performances de son syst\u00e8me (PC Mark), ou \u2013 plus sp\u00e9cifiquement – de sa carte graphique. Pour cette derni\u00e8re, l’application 3D Mark comporte une batterie de tests, en DirectX 11 ou DirectX 12, sur PC, en Full HD (Time Spy) ou en 4K (Time Spy Extreme). Il int\u00e8gre m\u00eame un test sp\u00e9cifique pour les \u00e9valuer les performances en Ray Tracing des processeurs RTX de Nvidia (Port Royal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aujourd’hui, un nouveau test vient tout juste d’\u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 \u00e0 3D Mark (Advanced Edition ou Professional Edition), qui peut \u00eatre t\u00e9l\u00e9charg\u00e9 sur le site de UL<\/a> ou sur Steam. Celui-ci permet de comparer les images g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es avec un antialisaing TAA, dans diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9solutions, avec celles obtenues avec la technologie XeSS d’Intel. Il permet \u00e9galement de voir l’impact de cette technologie sur les performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rappelons que la technologie XeSS\u00a0(Xe Super Sampling<\/em>, ou Xe super \u00e9chantillonnage) est une technologie de mise \u00e0 l’\u00e9chelle des images bas\u00e9e sur l’intelligence artificielle<\/a>. Elle permet d’obtenir une qualit\u00e9 graphique 4K \u00e0 un niveau de performances, pour le GPU, \u00e9quivalent \u00e0 celui n\u00e9cessaire pour g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des images en 1080p. Plus besoin pour le GPU de calculer des images directement en 4K, avec un antialiasing de type TAA. Cette technologie peut \u00eatre activ\u00e9e dans un nombre de jeux qui va sans doute devenir de plus en plus grand au fil du temps (comme Shadow Of The Tomb Raider<\/a>). Elle propose plusieurs modes, selon que l’on d\u00e9sire privil\u00e9gier les performances (mise \u00e0 l’\u00e9chelle importante de 300 %), ou la qualit\u00e9 d’affichage (mise \u00e0 l’\u00e9chelle r\u00e9duite de 130 %).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La technologie XeSS est Open source. Elle n’est donc pas exclusive aux processeurs Intel Arc, mais fonctionne aussi avec les puces AMD et Nvidia. En cela, sa philosophie se rapproche donc de celle de AMD et de sa technologie d’upscaling, appel\u00e9e FSR<\/a>, que de celle de Nvidia, le DLSS<\/a>, qui \u2013 rappelons le \u2013 ne fonctionne qu’avec des GPU RTX qui int\u00e8grent des c\u0153urs Tensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le module de test de la technologie XeSS de 3D Mark est t\u00e9l\u00e9chargeable gratuitement pour les utilisateurs qui ont achet\u00e9 le benchmark apr\u00e8s le 8 janvier 2019. Il fonctionne avec les GPU Arc d’Intel, ainsi qu’avec les puces graphiques Radeon d’AMD et les GeForce de Nvidia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
