Dans le cadre de Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit 2022, SK Hynix a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 une solution de m\u00e9moire computationnelle (CMS pour Computational Memory Solutio<\/em>n) utilisant le protocole CXL (Compute eXpress Link<\/em>). Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un module d’extension de m\u00e9moire de 512 Go (quatre modules DDR de 128 Go) dot\u00e9 d\u2019un SoC lui conf\u00e9rant des capacit\u00e9s de calcul. Il utilise une interface PCIe 4.0 x4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette solution, au stade de prototype pour le moment, doit permettre d\u2019am\u00e9liorer les performances au sein des centres de donn\u00e9es gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses capacit\u00e9s de calcul et de filtrage. Concr\u00e8tement, elle est en mesure de g\u00e9rer l’acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration de l’algorithme de classification KNN (k-nearest neighbors), le filtrage des donn\u00e9es et l’\u00e9quilibrage de la charge de travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SK Hynix d\u00e9voile sa m\u00e9moire GDDR6-AiM, capable de stocker et traiter les donn\u00e9es<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

De meilleures performances et une baisse de la consommation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Selon SK Hynix, sa CMS peut effectuer certaines op\u00e9rations mieux qu\u2019un CPU ou simplement \u00e9viter le transfert de donn\u00e9es entre la m\u00e9moire et le CPU, processus gourmand en ressources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Park Kyoung, responsable de la recherche sur les syst\u00e8mes de m\u00e9moire chez SK hynix, d\u00e9clare\u00a0: “Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l’internalisation de certains calculs, CMS a permis d’obtenir des performances plusieurs fois sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 celles de dizaines de c\u0153urs de CPU dans des calculs sp\u00e9cifiques. Consid\u00e9rant qu’il ne s’agit que d’un prototype, nous pensons pouvoir am\u00e9liorer encore les performances et envisageons d’appliquer cette technologie \u00e0 d’autres applications telles que le big data.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en partenariat avec SK Telecom<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SK Hynix a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 sa solution et effectu\u00e9 les tests en collaboration avec SK Telecom, qui a fourni une plateforme optimis\u00e9e. Yang Seung-ji, vice-pr\u00e9sident et responsable de la branche R&D Vision chez SK Telecom, explique :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Il est courant que les solutions mat\u00e9rielles d’un nouveau concept prennent un temps consid\u00e9rable pour prouver leur efficacit\u00e9 du point de vue d’une application logicielle. Mais cette fois, des calculs pertinents pour les services d’application r\u00e9els de SK Telecom ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s, ce qui nous a permis de gagner un temps consid\u00e9rable en r\u00e9alisant conjointement tous les processus, de la conception de la structure du mat\u00e9riel et du logiciel au d\u00e9veloppement et \u00e0 la v\u00e9rification. Comme nous avons constat\u00e9 une nette am\u00e9lioration des performances, nous pr\u00e9voyons de les appliquer \u00e0 l’avenir \u00e0 des t\u00e2ches de filtrage qui augmentent la pr\u00e9cision des donn\u00e9es d’apprentissage IA \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle et de les utiliser pour renforcer la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 du service IA de SK Telecom.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SK Hynix ne pr\u00e9cise pas la consommation de cette carte. Le clich\u00e9 montre un connecteur d\u2019alimentation PCIe \u00e0 huit broches, lequel peut donc d\u00e9livrer jusqu\u2019\u00e0 150 W. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fera une nouvelle d\u00e9monstration lors du SK Tech Summit en Cor\u00e9e d\u00e9but novembre.<\/p>\n\n\n
