IGP ou d\u00e9di\u00e9e ?<\/h5>\n

Un IGP est une carte graphique int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans un chipset (ou un processeur) et utilise g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de la m\u00e9moire partag\u00e9e. Les performances sont souvent faible mais la consommation aussi, un point int\u00e9ressant pour les PC portables. Une carte d\u00e9di\u00e9e est souvent bien plus puissante et dispose de sa propre m\u00e9moire mais consomme beaucoup. Et depuis quelques ann\u00e9es, des machines int\u00e8grent les deux cartes, avec des syst\u00e8mes plus ou moins \u00e9volu\u00e9s pour passer de l’une \u00e0 l’autre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

En 2008 et en 2009, Apple a propos\u00e9 des MacBook Pro dot\u00e9s de deux cartes graphiques, une GeForce 9400M (un IGP) et une GeForce 9600M (d\u00e9di\u00e9e). Petit probl\u00e8me, le passage d’une carte \u00e0 l’autre n\u00e9cessite une fermeture de session (et donc des applications). La gamme 2010 comprend toujours deux cartes graphiques \u2014 une GeForce GT 330M et un GMA HD de chez Intel \u2014 mais le passage est maintenant automatique et s’effectue de fa\u00e7on transparente. Et, bonne nouvelle, un petit programme permet de tirer parti de cette nouveaut\u00e9 (en partie) sur les anciens mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

En effet, gfxCardStatus<\/a> permet de changer de GPU \u00e0 la vol\u00e9e sur un MacBook Pro dot\u00e9 de deux cartes vid\u00e9os GeForce. Encore \u00e0 l’\u00e9tat exp\u00e9rimental, cette fonction semble fonctionner, m\u00eame si le programme identifie toujours une GeForce GT 330M et que le passage n\u00e9cessite quelques secondes pour s’effectuer. Reste \u00e0 esp\u00e9rer que quelques petits bugs disparaissent (des zones contenant de la vid\u00e9o disparaissent lors du changement) et qu’Apple proposera cette option dans une mise \u00e0 jour, avec \u2014 pourquoi pas \u2014 un changement automatique. Notons tout de m\u00eame que ce dernier point est plus compliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 mettre en oeuvre : autant la diff\u00e9rence de puissance entre un GMA HD et une GeForce GT 330M permet de cr\u00e9er des limites franches (globalement, la d\u00e9tection de l’utilisation d’OpenGL\/OpenCL force le changement), autant la diff\u00e9rence entre la 9400M et la 9600M n\u00e9cessite des r\u00e9glages plus fins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
