Selon un rapport r\u00e9cent du Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), le g\u00e9ant chinois Huawei pourrait disposer de suffisamment de puces pour fabriquer environ 750 000 puces d’intelligence artificielle (IA) Ascend 910C. Ce rapport s’appuie sur des sources industrielles qui r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que le principal fabricant de puces chinois, la Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 surmonter un goulot d’\u00e9tranglement cl\u00e9 dans la production de semi-conducteurs de 7 nanom\u00e8tres en acqu\u00e9rant des outils de d\u00e9p\u00f4t et d’autres \u00e9quipements de fabrication de puces am\u00e9ricains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bien que SMIC ne puisse pas rivaliser avec le ta\u00efwanais TSMC<\/a> dans la fabrication de puces de 7 nanom\u00e8tres ou plus avanc\u00e9es, le partenariat entre SMIC et Huawei pourrait permettre une perc\u00e9e dans la lithographie ultraviolette extr\u00eame (EUV) gr\u00e2ce aux ressources consid\u00e9rables d\u00e9di\u00e9es \u00e0 surmonter ce goulot d’\u00e9tranglement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le rapport du CSIS aborde \u00e9galement l’entr\u00e9e de DeepSeek dans la course \u00e0 l’IA, soulignant que la capacit\u00e9 du mod\u00e8le chinois \u00e0 d\u00e9montrer des co\u00fbts inf\u00e9rieurs fait partie de l’\u00e9volution naturelle de l’IA. Un facteur ayant permis \u00e0 DeepSeek de d\u00e9velopper ses mod\u00e8les d’IA est la politique du gouvernement am\u00e9ricain, qui a conduit les clients chinois \u00e0 utiliser les anciens GPU Nvidia V100. Cependant, Nvidia disposait d’un m\u00e9canisme permettant de modifier ses puces existantes apr\u00e8s fabrication, cr\u00e9ant ainsi les lignes de produits A800 conformes aux restrictions d’exportation am\u00e9ricaines, mais offrant des performances similaires aux GPU A100<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeepSeek, qui s’est appuy\u00e9 sur les GPU de Nvidia pour le d\u00e9veloppement de son IA, a \u00e9galement \u00e9valu\u00e9 l’alternative CUDA de Huawei, CANN, mais l’a jug\u00e9e insatisfaisante. Selon les sources, DeepSeek<\/a> estime qu’il faudra plusieurs ann\u00e9es avant que la combinaison des puces Ascend et du logiciel compatible CANN ne devienne une alternative viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les sanctions am\u00e9ricaines visant TSMC ont tent\u00e9 d’emp\u00eacher Huawei de d\u00e9velopper et de produire les derni\u00e8res puces d’IA. Cependant, avant ces sanctions, TSMC aurait fabriqu\u00e9 plus de deux millions de matrices logiques Ascend 910B, toutes d\u00e9sormais en possession de Huawei. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 qu’une puce Ascend 910C combine deux matrices 910B, Huawei pourrait produire jusqu’\u00e0 un million de puces Ascend 910C. Toutefois, le processus de packaging introduit des d\u00e9fauts, ce qui r\u00e9duit le rendement \u00e0 environ 75 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malgr\u00e9 les sanctions am\u00e9ricaines et n\u00e9erlandaises emp\u00eachant SMIC d’acqu\u00e9rir des \u00e9quipements EUV pour fabriquer les puces les plus avanc\u00e9es, SMIC utilise des \u00e9quipements DUV plus anciens pour produire des puces de 7 nanom\u00e8tres. SMIC pr\u00e9voit d’augmenter consid\u00e9rablement sa production de 7 nanom\u00e8tres, ayant acquis des outils de gravure, de d\u00e9p\u00f4t et autres outils de fabrication de puces am\u00e9ricains. Ces outils pourraient \u00e9galement aider SMIC \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer ses rendements de 7 nanom\u00e8tres, actuellement de 20 % pour les puces enti\u00e8rement fonctionnelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le rapport conclut que toutes les marges pour une mise en \u0153uvre n\u00e9gligente des contr\u00f4les \u00e0 l’exportation ou pour la tol\u00e9rance de la contrebande de puces \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 consomm\u00e9es, et qu’il n’y a plus de temps \u00e0 perdre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
